Notch8 Restaurant

After looking through all the dine out menus I decided to visit Notch8 with my friend as I thought the menu was more interesting than the other menus that I looked at. Notch8 is located right inside Fairmont Vancouver Hotel’s bottom floor.

Savory Macaron

Caviar, Smoked Salmon, Scallop Mousse, Roe, Crème fraîche, Flowers, Micro Dill

Super duper adorable!! This was the cutest thing ever!
Taste wise though, I personally wasn’t a fan. It was a unique and interesting, sweet and salty combination that I think you either like or dislike. What I did like about this was that every single item on the macaron was a burst of flavourful goodness. My friend and I ended up eating the top part and the macaron part separately since we thought it would taste better that way, and it sure did!

Basho Cafe

I have been longing to visit this lovely Japanese cafe for the longest time, however it was hard to find time to go. This is due to the cafe hours, they are only opened Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 3:00 which are not convenient hours for me as I work and reside pretty far away from the cafe. I did however finally find the time to go with my friend last week though and we were pretty excited. Basho cafe is known for their matcha drinks and sweets.

Raisu

Raisu opened up a few months ago, it is the sister restaurant of suika, kingyo and rajio, all well known and popular Japanese izakayas in Vancouver. After seeing pictures of the very photogenic foods on instagram we decided to give this place a try. We called a few days ahead to try to make a reservation but were told that they couldn’t take reservations anymore because they were full. However they told us that we could walk in for the big walk in table which is half the restaurant. We thought that was quite odd but we decided to go ahead and walk in.  We were seated at the center of the restaurant at a big square communal table, but next to us was two seats reserved? that confused us because the person I talked to when I called said there couldn’t be reservations for this area……but okay whatever.

720 Sweets

720 sweets opened up around a year or so ago. I never got the chance to visit for a long time since its pretty far away from where I live, and I wasn’t up for traveling far just for ice cream. However my friend and I planed on eating at raisu (review coming soon) so we thought it was the perfect chance to visit 720 sweets for dessert. I’ve seen so many pictures from this place, and it intrigued me alot because of the dry ice that they use to make it smokey and pretty. Though alot of places at night market are using the dry ice effect now so its not as cool as it used to be.

Xi Shi Lounge At Shangri La

Xi shi lounge

It was my 19th Birthday and of course, I had to have afternoon tea! I saved Shangri-la afternoon tea for my birthday as it was a more pricier afternoon tea place, and I assumed that it would be more fancier than other places. We made reservations for 12:30 on a Sunday but the place was extremely empty. There was only one other table of two and one server. The server was wearing a really cute dress and was really kind, however since she was pretty much the only server at the time it was hard to get good service, it was pretty slow.

Rose House

IMG_20150805_163715-1

My friend and I decided to visit Kerrisdale once again for afternoon tea. Rose House was the only tea house in Kerrisdale that we haven’t tried yet so of course we had to try it out! I made reservations on the phone the day before and it was quick and easy, the person who picked up was very professional. Rose house is in a very odd location it’s on a side street instead of a main street and the outside doesn’t look very nice compared to the other tea houses around. The interior however, was alright. Not the fanciest or the cutest but still elegant looking.
