Minami Restaurant

I came here with one of my other friends as I enjoyed Miku and I was curious as how the sister restaurant fared compared to the original. Minami is located really close to the yaletown skytrain station so finding this restaurant was not hard at all. Making reservations at 6:00 on a Thursday was really unnecessary as it was empty. Walking in, we were greeted by a very nice young lady and was taken to our table. Our server came over and asked us if she could start us out with a drink and then left….for a really long time. She probably didn’t return for a good 15 minutes? It was really confusing as there were hardly any people in the restaurant at the time. Trying to flag her down was like trying to flag down a server at a dim sum restaurant. This is no dim sum restaurant though, I thought this was kind of a fine dining restaurant um?.. When the server came she was extremely kind though so I guess that was alright.

Miku Restaurant

I dragged my friend here with me due to the hype on urbanspoon and other food blogs. Miku is located near Canada Place and the harbor. It is also very close to waterfront station, however somehow my friend and I got a little bit lost somehow. I guess we are just really bad with directions because its only a few feet away from the skytrain when you get out. Upon arrival we were greeted by a professional looking hostess. We were very intrigued by the beautiful decor, with most of the restaurant walls being glass windows for a beautiful view of the outside. I made reservations a few days in advance just in case, as it was a Saturday and it was noted that it can get quite busy at times. However, I realized when we were being seated that it wasn’t actually that busy…perhaps it was because it was only 12:30.

Chez Meme Baguette Bistro

I went to Chez Meme Baguette Bistro with my Mother after being here once a few months ago with my friend. I remember really liking one of the baguettes and thought my Mother would really enjoy it too. It took months to come back here again due to the very inconvenient hours.  I also knew that I had to come extremely early as going later would mean there would be a line up. It took a while to be able to come here again but it is so worth it!

L’Opera Patisserie

I really wanted to go to L’Opera Patisserie after seeing a few blog posts and pictures on instagram. I made reservations and dragged one of my friend here one day. Reservations are required and high tea is from 1-5pm Wednesday-Sunday. High tea is pretty pricey, it was 45$ per person and that’s not including tax and tips. I believe the usual price for high tea is around 30$. L’Opera Patisserie is in Richmond and is about a 5 minute walk from Richmond centre.

Glenburn Soda Fountain & Confectionery

Oh my gosh I LOVE this place. After seeing people rave about it, and after seeing lots of photos of Glenburn Soda Fountain & Confectionery my friend and I decided to come here. The trek to glenburn was not fun, It consisted of both sky-training, busing and walking so this is not a place I would go to very often. Is it located on hastings street in the heights shopping district. Glenburn is not very hard to find, you need to do some walking but the decor of Glenburn is very distinct and different so it is not too hard to find. Walking in, I noticed that the decor is of an old school soda parlor, something I’ve never been to before as I am not of that generation so I found it very unique and interesting. I also noticed that the seating is very limited, perhaps 5 seats at the bar and 3 small tables accompanying no more than 3 people at each table.
